Awami League's Liton set to become the new Rajshahi mayor

The ruling party candidate is yet to be officially declared the new mayor

Awami League’s mayoral candidate AHM Khairuzzaman Liton is set to become the new mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation, winning the polls in a landslide.

According to unofficial results, he bagged 166,394 votes in 138 polling centres across the city.

On the other hand, Liton’s nearest rival and BNP’s mayoral runner Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul managed to get 78,492 votes.

The official announcement is yet to come from the returning officer of the election.

Voting in the city had ended at 4pm Monday, amidst allegations of vote rigging and irregularities.
