The three cities will go to polls on July 30.
Awami League and BNP candidates for the mayoral elections in Barisal, Sylhet and Rajshahi city corporations have submitted their nomination papers.
In Barisal,Awami League nominated candidate Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah and BNP-endorsed mayoral candidates Mojibar Rahman Sarwar submitted their nomination papers on Thursday, confirms Md Mujibur Rahman, returning officer of the polls.

In Sylhet, Awami League nominated candidate, Badar Uddin Kamran, submitted his nomination papers to the acting returning officer, Alimuzzaman, around 1 pm Thursday.
Important party leaders and activists accompanied him for the submission.
Meanwhile, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, the BNP nominated mayoral candidate, resigned from his post as the mayor of SCC around 1pm.
He submitted his resignation letter to the Local Government Ministry through the executive officer of the ministry.
Earlier in the day, Ariful Haque met with SCC officials and bid them farewell.
Ariful submitted his nomination papers at around 3:30pm after offering Zohr prayer at the Dargah mosque, confirmed acting returning officer Alimuzzaman. He was also accompanied by regional party elites and activists.
However, despite Ariful’s submission, BNP Sylhet metropolitan unit general secretary, Badruzzaman Selim, has decided to run in the election as an independent candidate.
In Rajshahi, Awami League candidate, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, and BNP-backed Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, have submitted their nominations accompanied by important party leaders and activists.
Khairuzzaman made his bid at around noon on Thursday in a festive mood, surrounded by members and leaders of the 14-party-alliance.
After submission, Liton said: “As there has been no development in Rajshahi over the last five years, residents of the city want to see change.”
“My fellow leaders are united, and they have spread the word of boat among the households of Rajshahi. The people have heard, and they will not elect the wrong person again,” he added.
Meanwhile, BNP-nominated candidate and president of Rajshahi metropolitan unit BNP, Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, submitted his nomination around 3:30pm Thursday.
After the submission, Bulbul said: “BNP is taking part in the election to reveal the misdeeds of the current government. The people of the country have been robbed of their fundamental rights, and we are in a war to restore it to them.”
“This election is a part of the struggle to free our chairperson Khaleda Zia,” he added.
A festive mood prevailed at the regional election office throughout the series of submissions.
According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the deadline for the submission of nomination papers at both city corporations is June 28, while the dates for their review are July 1 and 2. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is July 9.
