Update : 10 Mar 2025, 04:25 PM

Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have requested students whose academic tenure has ended to leave residential halls before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

Acting registrar of the university Dr ABM Azizur Rahman confirmed the information to Dhaka Tribune on Monday.

Earlier, on Sunday afternoon, this directive was also issued in an office order signed by Dr ABM Azizur Rahman.

"Previous notices issued on February 6, 2024 and October 18, 2024, had already requested students who had completed their examinations to leave the residential halls. The university authorities expressed their gratitude to those who had complied with these orders," the office order read.

It further mentioned that, in the current circumstances, the Provost Committee, in a meeting held on March 2, unanimously decided that students who have already completed their postgraduate examinations must vacate their respective halls to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming JUCSU and hall council elections in 2025.

"If students do not leave the halls before the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the hall administration will take necessary measures to enforce the directive after the holidays. The university authorities urged the cooperation of the concerned students in maintaining overall discipline on campus," the order added.
