VC Prof M Akhtaruzzaman is likely to approve the Deans' Committee recommendations on Wednesday
With rescheduling for a third time due to the Covid outbreak, admission tests for the academic session 2020-21 of Dhaka University (DU) are likely to begin from October 1.
The Deans' Committee recommended the date on Tuesday after a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Prof M Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal said: “The decision will be finalized after the VC’s approval on Wednesday, ensuring that the exam dates do not conflict with other universities’ entry test schedules.”
The committee has recommended holding the Ka Unit (science faculty) exam on October 1, Kha unit (arts faculty) on October 2, Ga Unit (business faculty) on October 22, Gha unit (social science faculty) on October 23, and the general knowledge exam of Cha Unit (fine arts faculty) on October 9.
He said it had been decided to rearrange the schedule considering the Covid-19 situation in the country.
“Everything is uncertain during the pandemic. We have already stepped back from previous decisions and have rescheduled the dates,” he added.
On February 18, the DU authorities decided to hold the tests from May 21 and later rescheduled the date to July 31. Admission seekers completed the application process online between March 8 and March 31.
Admit cards can be downloaded from September 11 on the admission website.

The Deans’ Committee also recommended the schedule of admission tests for seven affiliated colleges under the university.
The tests for science-related subjects will be held on October 29, and social science and arts-related subjects on October 30. The admission test of business studies for the seven colleges will be held on November 5.
