The Education Ministry is yet to decide whether this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will be cancelled amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The development came after Education Minister Dipu Moni on Thursday instructed three departments of the ministry to come up with proposals suggesting alternative methods to hold this year’s HSC and equivalent exams.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) have been tasked to explore the alternative ways.

“A proposal on an alternative method for this year’s HSC exams will be prepared. They will present the proposal at our next meeting," the minister said.
Thursday’s decision also coincided with the government’s move to further extend the shutdown of all the educational institutions, except Qawmi madrasas, across Bangladesh till October 3 because of the pandemic.
