Bangladesh recorded four deaths and 39 infections from Covid-19 so far
The government has extended the period of shutdown until April 9 for all the educational institutions in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak across the country.
The Education Ministry took the decision after a meeting with the Primary and Mass Education Ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday.
Education Minister Dipu Moni said: "All the educational institutions will remain closed until April 9."
Earlier, the Education Ministry closed all the schools, colleges and universities from March 18 to 31 due to the global pandemic, and postponed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled to start on April 1.
As of Tuesday, Bangladesh recorded four deaths and 39 infections from the Covid-19 pandemic announced by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China's Wuhan, has claimed more than 16,700 lives and infected over 386,000 people across the world till date, according to Worldometer.
More than 102,000 people have recovered from the virus which has spread to 196 countries.
