UGC chairman, APUB leaders hold meeting on higher education

They said private universities will accelerate the overall development of Bangladesh

A meeting has been held between the Association of Private Universities (APUB) and University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding higher education in private universities.

The meeting was held at UGC office in Dhaka on December 12,a press release issued from APUB's public relations department stated on Sunday.

According to the release, one of the catalysts for economic transformation is the trained community. 

Many problems regarding higher education in private universities need to be resolved through timely reformation of laws in this regard. 

Private universitiesplay a major role in the development of education in Bangladesh as they produce around 100,000 graduates per year, which will also accelerate the overall development of Bangladesh. 

Government cooperation is also essential in this regard, the press release says.

Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof Kazi Shahidullah, UGC member Prof Akhtaruzzaman, Association of Private Universities Chairman Sheikh Kabir Hossain, MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP Nazrul Islam Babu, APUB Vice Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Professor Shafiq Ahmed Siddique, Secretary General Benajir Ahmed, Joint Secretary General Dr Kazi Anis Ahmed, and Treasurer KBM Moinuddin Chisti, among others, attended the meeting.
