The system will be introduced to make the admission process easier, the education minister said
Admission tests in most of the universities will be held through a cluster system from next year, and it will be introduced in all universities, in phases.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni disclosed the information at a press conference held at the secretariat, after the results of the HSC and its equivalent examinations were published, on Wednesday.
"Some universities want to conduct their own exams, and students are being admitted to medical colleges across the country through a unified admission test," the minister said.
"We want to come to a decision in this regard within this year and the Vice Chancellor's Council is discussing the issue," she added.
Replying to a question, she said the admission process must be made easier.
"Some students appear in the admission tests in seven to eight institutions," she said. "They have to appear at different places for the exams, and face various problems, including financial ones," she said.
