Examiners have handed question papers from 2018 for the Bangla Paper I examination to 48 Secondary School Certificate examinees in Satkhira.

The students took the exam again with a new set of question papers around 1pm on Saturday, about three hours after the exam had begun.

Centre Secretary Sukhlal Bain of the Champaful APC High School SSC examination centre in Kaliganj upazila was dismissed in connection to the matter.

Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sarder Mostafa Shahin told the Dhaka Tribune: "We became aware of the matter nearly three hours after the question papers were distributed.”

"Later, with the approval of the Jessore Education Board, the examinees were allowed to sit for the exam again."

The UNO said Centre Secretary Sukhlal Bain was directly responsible for this mishap. As a result, Assistant Centre Secretary Ariful Islam was appointed the new centre secretary.

He has also sent notice to 15 others responsible for distributing the question papers, to state their case regarding the incident.

Sources from the examination centre said among 440 examinees of the school, 48 received the question papers based on the syllabus of 2018.

After they were done with the examination the authorities realized the mistake, when the news spread and their answer scripts were collected.

Satkhira Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal assured the examinees that they would not face any problems regarding the incident, and legal actions have been taken against the culprits responsible for it.

Commenting on the matter, Jessore Education Board Controller of Examination Madhab Chandra Rudra said the answer scripts would be evaluated after they reach the board.

He insisted the students not worry about the incident and gave assurances that the Satkhira deputy commissioner had taken legal action against the culprits responsible.
