163 students to get Prime Minister’s Gold Medal

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the gold medals at the Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister's Office

The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) will award 163 students with the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal, in recognition of their outstanding results at their respective universities on Tuesday.

The award ceremony will be held at the Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister's Office.

As chief guest at the ceremony Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the gold medals among the students of different public and private universities of the country.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Md Sohorab Hossain will be present at the ceremony as special guests.

UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan will preside over the function at which UGC member Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum will deliver the welcome speech.

Prime Minister Gold Medal was introduced in 2005 as an effort to motivate the talented university students of the country.

Ministers, advisers to the prime minister, national professors, former UGC Chairmen, secretaries of different ministries, UGC members, vice-chancellors from public and private universities, high officials from the Prime Minister's Office and UGC and parents and guardians of the awardees, among others, will be present on the occasion.
