UGC approves Tk4643.50 crore for 40 public universities

The budget for 40 public universities in FY2017-2018 was Tk4152.01 crore, and it was increased in the revised budged to Tk4324.61 crore

The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Wednesday approved Tk4643.50 crore budgets for 40 public universities in the country.

The 151th Full Commission meeting of the UGC, presided by its Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, was held on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The commission approved the revised budget (non-development) and budget (non-development) for fiscal year 2018-19 for the public universities.

The budget for 40 public universities in FY2017-2018 was Tk4152.01 crore, and it was increased in the revised budged to Tk4324.61 crore.

The UGC’s budget in FY2017-2018 was Tk37.30 crore, and it was increased to Tk37.80 crore in the revised budget.

Wednesday’s meeting also approved a Tk4643.50-crore budget for the public universities and a Tk38.05-crore budget for UGC for the next fiscal year.

UGC Secretary Dr Md Khaled had placed the budgets before the meeting, reports BSS.

Top officials of the UGC, the Education Ministry, Planning Ministry, and other government branches concerned, and vice-chancellors and senior teachers of different public universities were also present at the meeting.
