The Dhaka University (DU) authorities on Tuesday asked provosts of its all halls to prepare lists of voters by May 31 this year for the election to the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu).
The university syndicate took the decision on Monday night at a meeting, several syndicate members said.
“Holding Ducsu polls is a lengthy and time-consuming process. The election has been overrun for the last 27 years and we are trying hard to hold the election, "said Prof Maksud.

The university authorities are also hopeful about holding the polls by March 30, 2019.
The last Ducsu election took place 27 years ago, on June 6, 1990. Student organizations, especially the left leaning ones, have long been demanding that the university hold the polls.
In January the High Court ordered the university authorities to hold the election within six months.
