Four CU Chhatra League members expelled over vandalism, assault

The incident took place during a protest on February 20

Four members of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Chittagong University (CU) unit were expelled by the university for two years for vandalizing the proctor’s office and assaulting journalists in the campus.

The decision was taken by the university’s disciplinary committee on Monday, confirmed Chittagong University Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury.

The expelled students are – Saidul Islam of public administration department, Lokman Hossain of economics, Konok Saha Joy of Modern Language Research Institute, and Mahfujul Huda Lotus of dramatics.

Four journalists were assaulted by the Chhatra League activists in CU campus on February 20. This incident took place while a Chhatra League faction was observing strike demanding the removal the proctor.

The Chhatra League men went on a rampage in the campus, vandalized the proctor office and some vehicles.
