Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will likely begin on April 2.
The inter-board coordination subcommittee has recommended the date in a proposal and the draft exam routine submitted to the Ministry of Education on Monday, said Deputy Exam Controller Adaitya Kumar Saha in the evening.
He said they proposed the one-day delay as Easter Sunday, a public holiday, will be observed on April 1.
Around 1.2 million students under eight general education boards, and the madrasa and vocational boards will sit for the exams this year.
The theoretical tests will continue till May 13, while the practical exams will be held over the next five days.
The routine will be published after the ministry approves it.
