The goat finally comes down from the tree

Update : 20 Dec 2017, 11:30 PM
The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NTCB) faced massive criticism after they put a picture of a goat on a mango tree and writing “O” as “Orna Chai” (I want an orna) in the first grade’s Bangla textbook in 2017.Now the goat is shown standing beneath the tree. The picture of the girl wanting an orna (scarf) has been replaced by a weight machine. Changes have been made in nine other places besides these two.The government will distribute the new books during the ‘textbook festival” on January 1. The Bangla Tribune was able to see the changes first-hand from some complimentary copies.Speaking about the changes, Prof Md Moshiuzzaman, an NCTB member, told the BanglaTribune that workshops are being conducted to make corrections to the book."The education minister gave us direct instructions to make the necessary correction to the books at the beginning of this year. We are trying to make the books 100 percent correct. "Compared to this year, there were more mistakes in previous years. The picture of the goat and the orna (scarf) are good examples, which were not added recently but have been there since 2012. It is our routine task to make necessary corrections every year," He further added.
