Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) has been working to bring all the universities and medical colleges across the country under a common network.
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan made the comment during the inauguration ceremony of a seminar titled “Strategies for Sustainable Research and Education Network” organised by Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) held at Dhaka Club on Monday.
“We have become able to establish connections among the universities which have been benefitting the students, teachers and researchers across the country.”
“Gradually, all the schools and colleges will be synced with this network and there is no alternative to the internet in order to be connected with the knowledge resources,” he added.
Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury said: “Currently, the number of BdREN users in the country is very few. So, all the research organizations across the country should be brought under this network.”
He also urged for a transparent policy guideline in this regard.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said the network would help the teachers and students to establish coordination among them.
Moreover, the teachers cannot avoid their responsibility to research using the allegation of limited resources.
Prof Akter Hossain said BdREN would bring about a revolutionary change in country’s research and education.
