Agitated Jahangirnagar University students have barred Vice-Chancellor Farzana Islam from entering her office as the administration is yet to withdraw a case it filed against a number of students in May.
The students besieged the administration building on Monday morning and obstructed the vice-chancellor when she tried to enter her office around 9:15am.
She was staying outside the administrative building as of 1:15pm.
Jahangirnagar University students blocked the Dhaka-Aricha Highway after two students from the university were killed in a road accident on May 26.
Police used tear gas and rubber bullets on the students. The agitated students vandalised the VC’s residence and some teachers claimed they were harassed during the incident.

Several students started a fast unto death on July 15 demanding withdrawal of the case.
They ended their hunger strike on July 17 after the university authorities promised to fulfill their demand. The students gave the administration one week to do so.
"There has been no progress on the assurance given to us by the university administration," Nazmul Hossain, who has been named as the prime accused in the case, told the Dhaka Tribune.
