Girls outshine boys in HSC 2017
Girls outshone boys in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations in terms of pass rate. The success rate among girls is 70.43% while it is 68.61% among boys. This year, the result has been published 59 days after the exams ended. A total of 11,83,686 students took the HSC and equivalent examinations under eight general education, madrasa and technical boards this year. The average pass rate in 10 boards is 68.91%. The success rate in eight general education boards is 66.84% while the rate is 81.33% for technical boards and 77.02% for madrasa board. A total of 33,241 students achieved the highest grade point average (GPA) 5 under eight general education boards. The numbers of GPA 5 holders are 1,815 and 2,669 respectively in madrasa and technical board.

The examinees will get their results at their respective examination centres, websites of their respective education boards and through short message service (SMS). For the short message service (SMS), subscribers are asked to type HSC <space> the first three letters of the respective board (like Dhaka=DHA) <space> Roll Number<space> 2017 and send it to 16222. For madrasa students, one has to type ALIM <space> MAD <space> Roll Number<space> 2017 and send the SMS to 16222. The students under technical boards have to type HSC <space> TEC <space> Roll Number<space> 2017 and send the SMS to 16222. Earlier on Sunday morning, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the summary of the result to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
