On Sunday, Professor Dr M Abdus Sobhan of the Applied Physics and Electronic Engineering department was made vice chancellor of Rajshahi University for a second term. He has been appointed for four years.
The university post has been vacant since March 20.

RU Chancellor Abdul Hamid, also the president of Bangladesh, appointed Professor Sobhan, said an Education Ministry gazette released on Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Secretary for Education Abdus Sattar Mia said the honourable president and chancellor appointed him for the next four years.
However, nothing was mentioned about the appointment to the post of the pro-vice chancellor.
On February 26, 2009, Professor Sobhan was appointed to the post of vice chancellor for the first term.
The tenure of the former vice chancellor Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin and pro-vice chancellor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan ended on March 19.
