Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AKM Nur-un-Nabi, who is facing several allegations including corruption and abuse of power, surreptitiously leaves his campus residence through the backdoor as his incumbency ends.
Prof Nur-un-Nabi left his residence on a rented microbus around 12:40am Saturday.
The vice-chancellor’s four-year tenure ended on May 5.
He spent his final day of work in his residence located in the university campus, said Apel Mahmud, former president of the university teachers’ association’s blue panel.
Journalists crowded the entrance of the vice-chancellor’s residence hearing that he would leave the campus.

The VC attempted to leave his residence several time but returned inside due to the presence of the journalists. He avoided any kind of interaction with the journalists at that time.
Finally, he sneaked out the premises through the backdoor at midnight.
It is learned that before leaving the campus the vice-chancellor had left a letter.
However, he did not assign anybody to manage his duties.
Before leaving the office of the vice-chancellor, blue panel teachers Apel Mahmud, Zobayer-ibn-Taher, Nazmul Haque, Motaleb Hossain and Ashraful Huq, assistant proctor Dr Shafiq Ashraf and several employees of the university went to Nur-un-Nabi’s residence to give him a farewell.
When the journalists asked the university officials about their discussion with the vice-chancellor, all of them refused to make any comment.
On Thursday, former teachers’ association general secretary Prof Tabiur Rahman Prodhan filed a case alleging that the VC had halted his promotion abusing power.
