Two others injured in fire undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery
A garment worker, who sustained critical burn injuries in a fire at a residential building in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj, has died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka.
Mamunur Rashid Mamun, 27, died at the ICU of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at 8am on Friday.
Mamun had suffered 100% burns, said Dr SM Ayub Hossain, resident surgeon at the hospital.
The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said Inspector Bacchu Miah of the hospital police outpost.
Three people, who worked at an apparel factory, suffered serious burn injuries after the fire broke out on the third floor of the seven-storey building in Siddhirganj on Thursday evening.
The two others -- Jibon, 20, and Parvej, 28 -- are receiving treatment at the same burn institute.
Like Mamun, Parvej also suffered 100% burns while Jibon suffered 30% burns.
Riaz, a colleague of the victims, told UNB that the three were on a break and getting ready for the night shift when there was a sudden explosion and the fire broke out.
