The coronavirus restrictions appear to have worn out with the hustle and bustle of Dhaka city gradually returning to normalcy.
Inspecting different areas of the city on Tuesday, it seemed that Dhakaites unknowingly forgot about the lockdown.
The presence of people on the streets has increased, more and more shops are opening and the number of vehicles on the roads is also on the rise, causing traffic congestion, reports Bangla Tribune.
Most people are not adhering to any restrictions or hygiene rules, with many leaving their houses without even wearing a mask.
Moreover, police check-points have apparently become very relaxed as people were not being questioned for being outside amid the lockdown.
All these factors may aggravate the Covid-19 situation in the country, the report said citing experts.
A large number of people were seen in the Khilgaon area of Dhaka on Tuesday morning, who were commuting to work using different means of transportation due to the ban on public transport.
Several check-points in the area were left unattended, while police were seen playing the role of silent spectators at another, allowing unchecked movement.

Similar scenes were also witnessed the capital’s Rajarbagh, Fakirapul, Arambagh, Basabo, Jatrabari, Sayedabad, Paltan, Kakrail, Dainik Bangla Mor, Banglamotor, Matsya Bhaban, Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar, Panthapath and Dhanmondi areas.
One of the individuals out on the streets, Nasir Uddin, told Bangla Tribune: “All kinds of shops are now open. It appears that there are no curbs in place, which is why I have come outside. I did some shopping and will go to my office after a while.”
In Mirpur, small buses were seen plying the roads despite public transport being suspended.
Romana, a resident of the area, said passengers were being transported in these buses.
“Most of these buses are carrying passengers. Police were not stopping them either. Furthermore, passengers are not worried at all about lockdown restrictions,” she added.
Some of the bus drivers said that their financial situation had become distressing due to not working for a long time, forcing them to come out with their vehicles in defiance of the ongoing lockdown.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Road Transport Owners' Association Secretary General Khandaker Enayet Ullah said public transports must not operate amid the lockdown.
“Any individual breaking the law will be held accountable. The organization will take action against anyone against whom such allegations are made,” the transport leader added.
