The woman was pronounced dead at DMCH around 1:15pm
A woman was killed on Wednesday after being hit by a bus in front of a hospital in Dhaka.
Police have seized the deadly bus in the incident.
The deceased is identified as Rehena Begum, 50, who went to the National Heart Foundation hospital with her daughter and got hit by the bus at around 12pm.
She was rescued in critical condition and first taken to Suhrawardy Hospital before being moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the on-duty doctor around 1:15pm.
Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the matter.
The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy. Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station has been informed of the matter, Bacchu said.
Rehena is the wife of Jasim Uddin of Kondarpur village in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district. She was the mother of three daughters and one son.
Tanzina Akhter Meghla, daughter of the deceased, said her mother had been ill for a long time.
“She was being examined for the last three months. The report was good. However, as she was feeling sick again, I took her to the National Heart Foundation on Wednesday morning,” said Tanzina.
“After being done with the angiogram, that report was also good. Later, a bus from Welcome Transport hit her while she was crossing the road, holding my hand,” Tanzina added.
