The party demanded immediate and unconditional release of the student leaders
BNP has alleged three Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders were picked up by law enforcers from Dhaka University’s TSC area.
The ones picked up are -- Anisur Rahman Khandaker Anik, a member of the convening committee of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal, Abu Hayat Mohammad Zulfiqar Jessan, the organizing secretary of Sir AF Rahman Hall Chhatra Dal, and Atiq Morshed, a Chhatra Dal leader of Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the allegations on Sunday.
He said: “The students called a rally in front of the National Press Club on Sunday morning to protest the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed under police custody. But the petty police force of the ruling illegal Awami League mafia government did not allow the students to gather there.
“Following this, members of law enforcement picked up the student leaders from TSC area around 7-7:30pm on Sunday. But the police are denying the allegations now.”
Expressing strong condemnation and protest over the incident, Rizvi said: “The present government has established a mafia system in the country and picking up the Chhatra Dal leaders is a proof of that.”
“No one has any security during the rule of this government. Neither they are allowing to observe peaceful programs nor they are giving the freedom of movement,” he added.
Rizvi urged to immediately search for the mentioned leaders or to bring them before the public.
Otherwise, if anything happens to them, the entire responsibility will have to be borne by the government and law enforcement.
On Sunday morning, over 50 people, including policemen and a journalist, were injured in a series of clashes between activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and police in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.
