Demands immediate justice for victim
The Bangladesh Students' Union (BSU) has condemned what it said was the brutal rape and murder of an O Level student in Dhaka.
English medium unit of the BSU, in a press release on Thursday, said the student went for her tuition to Kalabagan around 1pm on Thursday.
Her body was found a few hours later; she was pronounced dead at Anwer Khan Medical Hospital, having died from excessive bleeding, it said.
In the statement, Sraban Shams Chowdhury, convener of BSU English medium unit, said: "We condemn in the strongest possible terms the rape and murder of our fellow student. Our sympathies and solidarity lay with her family in what must be an unimaginably difficult time.
"We also demand that the perpetrators of this horrific act be brought to justice."

He said perpetrators of sexual assault and violence against women go unpunished because of their wealth, social status or political affiliations.
"We urge the authorities to be impartial in their investigation and bring swift and uncompromising justice for the victim and her family," he added.
Meanwhile, police arrested the main suspect of the incident. They, however, could not confirm immediately if it was a case of rape.
The victim's uncle said one of her friends called her and took her to another friend's house in Kalabagan, saying they were going to a birthday party.
At that friend's house, she was tortured and killed, he added.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
