Man killed in Dhaka road accident

A man was killed after a covered van hit him in Demra Staff Quarters area in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

“The covered van knocked Altaf Hossain Selim, 60, a resident of Kamargop area under the Demra police station, while he was walking along the roadside at 7am . . . He died on the spot,” Sub-Inspector (SI) of Demra police station Mohammad Shahjahan said.

The body was sent to the morgue of Mitford Hospital for autopsy.

Police seized the covered van while its driver and his assistant managed to escape the scene immediately after the incident.

A case has been filed with Demra police station over the accident.
