The Community Initiative Society (CIS) and Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) have jointly organized an international symposium on “Disaster Risk Management (DRM) In The New Normal Age-Role of Community, Private Sector and Civil Society” in Dhaka.
The symposium was held at Gallery 01 in Dhaka Community Medical College on Wednesday.
The symposium was arranged in connection with “Capacity building project for the establishment and sustainable management of a multi-sector platform for disaster management in Bangladesh” which is being jointly implemented by CIS and A-PAD.
This international symposium was held to help comprehensive participation and support of NGO, private organization, business groups and government for establishing multi-sectored platform of A-PAD Bangladesh and building community resiliency and leading the effectiveness in humanitarian response at the national level.
Mr. Kensuke Onishi, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management(A-PAD) gave an overview of A-PAD activities in the South-Asia region.
Prof Quazi Quamruzzaman, Chairman, CIS, A-PAD, ATM Kamrul Islam, Joint Secretary, Director (Planning & Development), Department of Disaster Management, Md. Sabirul Islam Biplob, Joint Secretary, Cabinet Division, GoB , Ommey Salma Tanzia, Joint Secretary (GHM Wing), Health Service Division were present and spoke at the program.
