A pistol, a bullet, a walkie-talkie set, and a vest with DB written on it were recovered from their possession
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in a special drive, arrested three reported robbers in Dhaka.
The three, Md Barek, 37, Abul Kashem alias Jibon Bepari, 56, and Md Swapon Akand, 40, were apprehended from the capital’s Kajla area in Jatrabari on Monday.
“The detainees were trying to commit robbery in Kajla under Jatabari police station Monday night,” said Additional Police Commissioner (Detective Branch) AKM Hafiz Akhter, briefing the media at the DMP’s media centre on Tuesday afternoon.
He said: “The alleged robbers have told us that they would target vehicles carrying money for different banks. They also targeted people withdrawing money from banks in and around Dhaka.
“They -- posing as DB men -- would scare their victims by threatening to kill them or to sue them in fake narcotics cases.”
As many as two cases have been filed against the reported robbers with Jatrabari police station.
DB says Barek has eight cases filed against him in different police stations, Kashem has seven, and Swapon has nine.
One home made pistol, a bullet round, one vest with DB written on it, and one wireless set were recovered from their possession.
