Students institutional email addresses will be provided through Google's G-Suite for Education
Students of Dhaka University (DU) are finally going to get their most anticipated institutional email addresses.
The university's ICT cell has completed all the preparations in this regard and Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof M Akhtaruzzaman approved the facility, said a DU press release on Wednesday.
Earlier, only teachers of Dhaka University could obtain and use the official e-mail address.
Students’ institutional email addresses will be provided through Google's G-Suite for Education. Apart from using those official mails, students will also be permitted to use google drive, google classroom, google meet, and many other G-Suite services, the handout added.
Each department and institute is instructed to select an ''email admin" who will verify the information of students and then send them to the ICT cell. After that the university administration will provide unique mail addresses to its students, the release furthered.
However, it did not mention the time when students will get this opportunity.
Institutional mail accelerates the chances of students to study, conduct and publish research papers, as well as get some other benefits at overseas universities.
But the students of DU were deprived of such opportunities till now as the university administration never provided this most needed facility to its students.
