The beating took place as the youths were not allowed to pass a road, the DSCC men were cleaning
A waste management inspector of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and some cleaners have been beaten allegedly by three youths at Hazaribagh, Dhaka.
Police arrested three youths in connection with the incident.
Hazaribagh police station Sub-inspector (SI) Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
The arrestees are -- Shanto, Md Shanto and Sabbir, all aged between 20-25. They were later sent to jail after being produced before a court.
DSCC cleaners were removing waste from the road in front of the Talnagar pump at Hazaribagh around 12pm on Saturday. At that time the the youths wanted to pass the road in a rickshaw but the cleaners asked them to use another road, the SI said.
“Not being allowed to pass though the road, they (the youths) became angry and had an altercation with the cleaners and Rahim Uddin, the DSCC waste management inspector. At one point the youths started beating them up and destroyed various items including drums used for waste management,” Shahidul said.
The victim Rahim Uddin lodged a written complaint with the police station. A case is in process to be filed against the three youths, the SI added.
