Councillor’s office resolves each complaint within 30 minutes
The Councillor’s office of Ward 21 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has launched an app (mobile application), “Clean 21,” for residents to register their grievances concerning 12 problem areas including waste management, mosquitoes, and waterlogging.
Areas under DSCC Ward 21 include Bangla Motor, Paribagh, Dhaka University East and West, and Shahbagh (Hatirpool Bazar).
Ward residents have been able to lodge their complaints since the beginning of July and are able to have the problem addressed within 30 minutes.
“Cleaners collect waste from the roadside once a day and after that much of the garbage remains scattered on the streets. This gives off a foul smell and pollutes the air also. Now we can complain easily using the app,” said Moshiur Rahman, a resident of the ward.
“It is the monsoon season now. If we face waterlogging, we can instantly inform the councillor through this app. In many cases such water logging is the reason for potholes or ditches on the roads” said another resident, Hasan Ali.
“The app has been launched to resolve problems in the shortest possible time,” said Md Asaduzzaman, councillor of DSCC Ward 21, speaking with Dhaka Tribune.
“Our team responded and attended to problems within 30 minutes of a complaint being lodged, using GPS to identify the area,” he said.
The app can be downloaded from Google Playstore.
To file a complaint, a resident also has to describe the problem, and give the location of the address.
A photograph of a problem like waste management or water logging must be attached.
“If other councillors want to introduce such apps for their respective areas, I will help them,” Asaduzzaman said.
