A fresh batch of 257 Bangladesh citizens has returned home from the Maldives, where they were stranded for over two months due to the Covid-19 forced flight suspension.
A special flight from Male, the capital of Maldives, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 6:33pm on Thursday.
Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (DGM) (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The returnees were all sent to quarantine after they went through the mandatory thermal scanning at the airport, an airport health official said.
Till now, 2,117 Bangladeshis, who were undocumented or irregular workers in the Maldives, have returned home, according to airport sources.
