BNP aspirant Sheikh Rabiul Alam bagged 817 votes
Awami League-endorsed candidate Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin has won the by-election for Dhaka-10 constituency, with only 5.28% of votes cast.
According to the unofficial results, Mohiuddin got 15,955 votes while BNP aspirant Sheikh Rabiul Alam bagged only 817 votes in 117 centres.
Returning Officer GM Shahatab Uddin announced the unofficial results at the Teachers’ Training College centre on Saturday evening.
Among the other candidates, Haji Md Shahjahan from Jatiya Party got 97 votes, Nawab Khaza Ali Ahsan Askari from Bangladesh Muslim League got 15, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury from Bangladesh Congress got 18 and Abdur Rahim from Peoples Democratic Party got 63.
There are 3,12,281 voters in the constituency, where voting was held from 9am to 5pm through the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) amid panic over the spread of coronavirus.
