A policeman was crushed to death under the wheels of a running bus while trying to chase a robber in Agargaon area of Dhaka.
The deceased has been identified as Jahangir Alam, 32, an assistant sub-inspector of Kafrul police station.
Duty officer of the police station, Shahidur Rahman, said the incident took place around 8:30 pm on Wednesday near gate No. 9 of Old Airport area in Dhaka.
“As Jahangir was trying to chase a robber, he was knocked down by a passenger bus from behind, leaving him seriously injured,” the duty officer said.
Jahangir was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
The robber, as well as the bus driver, managed to flee the scene. Police seized the bus.
