Four people, including two women, have been killed in separate road accidents in the capital city Dhaka.

Two women were killed in a road accident in the Mohakhali area early Wednesday.

The deceased are Syeda Kochi, a resident of Kishoreganj, and Sonia, a resident of Bhola.

The duo was travelling by a scooter and met the accident near Setu Bhaban, Banani police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Afzal Hossain said.

Injured critically, the women were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where the duty doctors pronounced them dead around 1am, DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bachchu Mia confirmed.

In Demra, two youths were killed as a sand-laden truck hit their motorcycle from behind at Konapara on Tuesday night. 

The victims are -- Akash, 21, and Oishik, 19.

The accident took place around 10pm on Tuesday, leaving them injured, Inspector Bachchu Mia said.

Both of them were taken to DMCH where Akash was declared dead around 1:30am on Wednesday, he said.

Oishik died around 3:20am while undergoing treatment at the hospital, the police official added.

The bodies were kept at the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
