Family claims it is a murder

Police recovered the body of a pharmacist from a hospital in Dhaka's Demra area on Friday.

The victim is Mobarak Karim, 27, who worked in Pro-Active Medical College and Hospital Ltd in the Signboard area of Narayanganj's Siddirganj.

Demra police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shah Alam said they recovered the body after breaking open the door of a room of Friendship Hospital located in Matuail.

The body was found hanging from a towel tied to the window grille, he said.

"The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy and we are investigating the matter," he added.

Meanwhile, family of the deceased claimed it was a murder.

Karim's cousin Nahid Hossain said his brother, who has married just seven months ago, lived in Shonir Akhra and went to office on Thursday.

Since then, Karim did not return home and his mobile was also found switched off, he said.

"We came to know of the matter today [Friday] morning. He had no reason to commit suicide," Nahid said.

He also said they heard a man named Jamal, who is the director of the Friendship Hospital, called Karim and then he went to the hospital.

"We suspect that Karim was killed by someone," Nahid added.
