Foyzur Rahman, now 86, has been hawking the book himself for the past years as no one showed interest in publishing another edition of it
Twenty years after publishing its first edition, Scientist Dr Foyzur Rahman Al Siddiq has finally received an opportunity to publish the second edition of his book "Bangalir Joy, Bangalir Baerthota" (Victory of Bangali, Failure of Bangali).
Foyzur Rahman, now 86, has been hawking the book himself for the past years as no one showed interest in publishing another edition of it.
As the matter garnered widespread attention on social media, digital financial service Nagad's Managing Director Tanvir Ahmed Mishuk came forward to help publish the book again, according to a press statement.
Tanvir took permission from the scientist in this regard after a meeting with Dr Foyzur on Monday night, it said.
The Nagad managing director introduced M Shariful Alam, managing director of Bangla Prokash, to the scientist to publish the book again.
Shariful Alam said: "We have come to know the matter [of Dr Foyzur] from different media. We believe we can help the book reach a large section of readers, and Nagad's managing director took the initiative.
"I hope we will be able to publish the book within a week. We have also planned to translate it into English to enable the book to reach international heights."
Born in 1934 at Charmadhucharia village in Nawabganj of Dhaka, Siddiq completed his graduation in chemistry from Dhaka University, and received his PhD from Cambridge University in the UK.
