Attack on Ducsu VP Nur: 2 accused get bail

Muktijuddho Mancha's central committee general secretary Al Mamun and the organization’s Dhaka University unit general secretary Yasir Arafat Turjo were granted bail in the case on Tuesday

A Dhaka court has granted bail to two leaders Muktijuddho Mancha in a case filed against them for allegedly attacking Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur and his followers.

Muktijuddho Mancha's central committee general secretary Al Mamun and the organization’s Dhaka University unit general secretary Yasir Arafat Turjo were granted bail in the case on Tuesday.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Court passed the order after defense counsel Kazi Nojibullah Hiru filed a bail petition before the court seeking bail for his clients.

On December 23, police arrested the two leaders of Muktijuddho Mancha for alleged involvement in an attack on VP Nur and others.

The Ducsu vice president and 27 others were injured in an attack reportedly carried out by the Chhatra League and Muktijuddho Mancha on December 22.

On December 24, Shahbagh police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rais Uddin filed the case against them and 30 to 35 other unnamed accused.

The accused in the case are: Muktijuddho Mancha central committee President Aminul Islam Bulbul and General Secretary Al Mamun, its DU unit President ASM Al Sonet and General Secretary Yasir Arafat Turjo, Imran Sarker, Yead Al Riyad, Mahbub Hasan Niloy, and Touhidul Islam Mahim.
