'Introduce new pollution-free campaign strategies for next polls'

The re-elected DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam made the remarks to the Election Commission

The re-elected Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam has urged the Election Commission to introduce alternative pollution-free campaign strategies for future polls.

He made the statement to reporters after placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Memorial at Dhanmondi32 on Monday.

Atiqul said the current means of running campaigns such as hanging posters all over the constituency areas and making announcements through loudspeakers cause pollution.

Therefore, new campaign strategies need to be introduced.

The DNCC mayor was flanked by several Awami League leaders and activists at the time.
