The protest program will be observed in all wards of Dhaka, he said
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called for protest programmes in Dhaka metropolitan area on Tuesday, demanding cancellation of the results of the Dhaka's two city corporation elections.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme at a briefing held at its Naya Paltan head office in Dhaka on Sunday.
The protest program will be observed in all wards of Dhaka, he said.
On Sunday, BNP observed a dawn to dusk hartal in Dhaka city protesting widespread irregularities in the city corporation elections. The hartal, however, made little impact on public life.
“On the same day [Tuesday], the mayoral aspirants of our party will present documentary to journalists on the fraud committed during the city elections,” said Fakhrul.
Senior leaders of the party, including two mayoral aspirants – Tabith Awal of DNCC and Ishraque Hossain of DSCC- also attended the briefing.
