Bangladesh Society of Geo-Informatics (BSGI) has appointed Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal as its new president and Mohammad Fazle Reza Sumon as general secretary amidst great celebrations.
The newly-appointed president and general secretary were elected at BSGI's bi-annual general meeting and 5th Board Elections 2020 on Sunday.
Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal is the dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dhaka University and the president of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta).
The 21-member Executive Council includes DU Assistant Prof Md Khalid Hasan, elected as vice president, ESRI Bangladesh Country Representative Mohammad Abdul Hadi as vice president, Jahangirnagar University Prof Dr M Shafiq-Ur Rahman as joint secretary, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (Bari) Senior Scientist Dr M Golam Mahboob as treasurer, and Major Md Zakir Hossain of Land Records and Surveys Department as organizing secretary.
BSGI is a national organization of professionals who are currently working on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing of Bangladesh for the country’s digital mapping and geospatial technology.
