Four people including siblings have been killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka.

In Uttara, two brothers--Jewel Sheikh, 40, and Liton Sheikh, 35, were killed after a bus of Abhi Enterprise hit their motorcycle around 2:45pm yesterday.

Confirming the matter, Uttara (East) police station Sub Inspector (SI) Rafiz Uddin Ahmed said that the bus, heading towards Mohakhali, hit a motorcycle in front of the police station in Azimpur area. The motorcycle skidded off the road, leaving the duo injured critically.

They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the medical officers declared them dead around 3pm, he added.

Police managed to detain the bus driver along with the bus from Kakali area, said the SI.

In another tragic accident in Jatrabari area, two passersby were killed after being hit by a speeding bus of Anabil Paribahan around 10pm on Thursday.

The deceased Anwar, 40, was the uncle of Salauddin, 20, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bachchu Mia.

"The bus hit them while they were crossing the road, leaving them severely injured," he said.

Locals rushed them to the Emergency Unit of DMCH where the on-duty medical officers declared them dead at 2pm, Bachchu added.
