The accidents took place early Tuesday
Two people have been killed and another injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka.
Both the accidents took place early Tuesday.
In Fakirapool area, a man was killed and another received minor injuries when a covered van hit their motorcycle around 2:30am.
The deceased is Abdul Jalil, 38, a resident of Shariatpur. He lived in his in-laws' house at Kashimpur in Gazipur.
Sajjad Hossain, a resident of Mirpur who was driving the motorcycle, said he was giving a lift to Jalil to Arambagh from Abdullahpur in the capital.
Jalil was heading towards Arambagh to attend an Islamic congregation of Dewanbagh Darbar Sharif, he said.
On the way, a covered van, while overtaking another one, hit the motorcycle in Fakirapool intersection, leaving Jalil critically injured, he said.
"I do not know how I survived," Sajjad said.
He lamented that people, who were present at the spot, were more busy taking photographs rather than coming forward to help them.
"At last, a street boy helped me bring Jalil to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH)," he added.
Jalil received injuries on his head and was declared dead by the on-duty physician around 3:10am, DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bachchu Mia said.
Sajjad received primary treatment at the hospital.
In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed as a truck hit a vehicle in Asadgate area around 12am.
The deceased is Abdul Kader, 42, a resident of Dhaka's Mirpur 1 area. He hailed from Daudkandi in Comilla.
Jobayer Hossain, younger brother of the deceased, said his brother got injured critically in the accident, and the police rescued and admitted him to the DMCH.
Kader died around 2:15am while undergoing treatment at the hospital, Inspector Bachchu Mia said.
The bodies were kept at the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy, he added.
