A Dhaka court placed Mojnu, the prime suspect of the case, on a seven-day remand on Thursday
The Dhaka University (DU) student, who was raped and tortured in Dhaka's Kurmitola area, has returned home after she was discharged from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
After getting released from the One-Stop Crisis Centre at DMCH, she left for home around 12pm on Thursday, confirmed Director General of DMCH Brig Gen Nasir Uddin.
"We discharged her as per the suggestion of the medical board," he said.
Nasir said the girl was doing well and she was asked to come to the hospital if her physical condition got worse, Nasir furthered.
On Sunday evening, the DU student was attacked and raped by an unidentified man by the side of Airport Road in Kurmitola area.
She was later admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at DMCH.
The rape incident spread shockwave and triggered demonstration of students and humanitarian organizations across the country.
On Wednesday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended the suspect, named as Md Mojnu, in the capital's Shewra rail crossing area.
During primary interrogation, Mojnu confessed to raping the student, RAB said.
The rape survivor also identified Mojnu as the culprit, the battalion confirmed.
He was later handed over to the Detective Branch of Police who is investigating the rape case filed by the victim's father with the Cantonment police station on Monday.
