The clash ensued over the distribution of saris among its members marking the 72nd founding anniversary of the student organization of ruling Awami League.

Eyewitnesses claimed that Salsabil and her followers distributed six saris to the female students who failed to get saris from Raina, hearing that Raina become infuriated as the saris were given to the students without her consent.
