A Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) staff has been killed in a road accident in Dhaka's Jatrabari area.
The accident occurred in front of Saddam Market early Friday.
The deceased is Tariqul Islam Imon, 35, son of Ansar Ali from Narayanganj.
DMCH Employees' Union Vice-President Mokhlesur Rahman said: "Tariqul was a fourth grade employee of DMCH, and joined as a staff in 2004. He used to be on duty at the ticket counter of the hospital's external department.
"He was on his way back home, when the accident happened."
Jatrabari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Majharul Islam said: "Tariqul's motorcycle was hit by a truck, which then fled."
Locals rescued Tariqul and rushed him to the DMCH emergency department, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, around 2am.
The OC said: "A case has been filed in this regard. We are trying to identify the truck.
"Upon request, the body has been handed over to the family without an autopsy."
