The bodies were recovered on Wednesday night

Police have recovered the bodies of a couple from a house in Dhaka's Fakirapul area.

The bodies were recovered from a room housed in the uppermost floor of the four-storey building on Wednesday night.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel division) Enamul Haque Mithu confirmed the matter.

The deceased are identified as Shahid Ahmed and his wife Marjina.

The police official said they found Shahid's body hanging inside the room and recovered the body of Marjina from inside a drum.

He also said Shahid had been working as a caretaker of the building for last three to four years.

"We are investigating the matter," he added.

Police said the owner of the building lives in the United States and most of its flats have been rented for commercial purpose.

Quoting some residents of the building, police said Shahid remained missing for the last two to three days.

A general diary (GD) was filed in this connection with Motijheel police station, police said.

The residents found Shahid's hanging body inside the room and informed police.

Police, however, recovered a note from a pocket of the pants of Shahid.

Quoting residents, police said Shahid married Marjina six months ago.
