Modi likely to attend Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebrations

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary celebrations.

Interim Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee will also participate in the celebration to be held next year in Dhaka, he said.

Foreign Minister Abdul Momen made the statement while addressing a discussion on India’s role in Bangladesh’s glorious War of Liberation and Bangladesh-India relations on Friday, reports UNB.

Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee organized the discussion at Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium at National Museum in Dhaka on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of India’s recognition to Bangladesh.

Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das and Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir, among others, spoke at the function.
