A student of Eden Mohila College has died at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), due to the injuries she sustained when she fell off a motorcycle.

She died at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital around 6:40am on Monday, DMCH police outpost Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Md Abdul Khan told Dhaka Tribune.

The deceased is Aklima Akhter Jui, 24, who was a masters’ student at the Political Science department of Eden Mohila College.

On November 30, Aklima was critically injured after she fell off a moving motorcycle at the Bijoy Sarani intersection, while she was trying to pull out her mobile phone from her bag.

Locals took her to DMCH, where she was shifted to the intensive care unit after initial treatment, due to the severity of her head injuries.

Aklima's classmate Hritu Akhter said Aklima was on her way to Farmgate, where she teaches at a coaching institute, from her house in Mirpur on a motorcycle that was hired through the ridesharing app.
