Bangla Vision staff killed in road accident

The incident took place near the Saddam Market in the Jatrabari area on Friday evening

A staff of private television channel Bangla Vision was killed as a motorcycle hit him on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Dhaka.

The incident took place near the  Saddam Market in the Jatrabari area around 6:15pm on Friday.

The deceased, Abdullah Al Mamun, 40, was a driver of the television channel. He hailed from the Sidlai village of Brahmanpara upazila of Comilla.

Three school students rescued Mamun and brought him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where he was declared dead around 7pm.

They said a speeding motorcycle hit Mamun while he was crossing the road, leaving him critically injured.

A resident of Shanir Akhra in Jatrabari, Mamun was a father of three children.

Confirming the accident, Jatrabari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam said: "The motorcyclist fled the scene with his vehicle after the accident."

The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
